App and models have different licences
Obsidian’s application terms do not override the licences of bundled third-party software or models. See LICENSE.txt and the ThirdPartyNotices folder in your download for the notices that apply to that release.
The included model files contain AGPL-3.0 labels in their embedded metadata. The download preserves that metadata and the AGPL text. Obsidian does not claim exclusive ownership of those models. Their original licence rights remain applicable.
Redistribution and source information
Do not assume that renaming a model changes its licence or removes an author’s rights. Redistribution must meet the actual author’s terms, including applicable source and notice obligations. A separate commercial licence can apply only where the rights holder has actually granted it.
Requests about authorship, model permissions or source obligations can be raised through Discord support. The presence of a licence label or this page is not evidence that a separate commercial redistribution permission has been obtained.
Custom models
You may add compatible ONNX models to the models folder. Obtain them from a source you trust and follow their licence. Supported architecture, input dimensions and output/class formats matter; the .onnx extension alone does not make a model compatible. The included MODEL GUIDE.txt describes the bundled files.
